I already traveled lot in my live, especially after the Berlin Wall came
down in 1989. I've seen 28 countries in 23 years and I hope this will
hold on in the future. The Germans are not without reason the #1
spending country in tourism, followed by the United States. We spend
around $50 billion a year not including domestic trips.
So I already could experience different cultures and learn the
importance of respecting these. At this section you can find some
descriptions and information about recent travels, even if it is not
complete.
Up to now you can find a link to my 2 bicycle-trips to France
together with my bike and cousin Friedemann. Moreover there are some
pictures from my 1999 trip to Scotland
,
detailed descriptions of my experiences during the
solo-bicycle tour around Ireland
and some photos of a London
trip in February 2002. My
winter vacation in February 2001 brought me to Malaysia,
Singapore
and Indonesia . Together with 2 German friends I experienced many different
cultures, the highest buildings of the world (Petronas Towers in Kuala
Lumpur), tea plantations, the oldest rainforest on earth and so on. The
most impressive pictures for me besides the rainforest have been the
rice terraces and vulcanos on Bali and Lombok. Moreover we relaxed on a
paradies like Island of 1000 to 600 m size occupied by palm trees,
coconut cottages and beautiful white sand. We snorkeled together with
huge turtles and colourful fishes, spending less than $10 a day. What a
wonderful world. In summer 2001, at the end
of my year in Korea, I used a stopover in Bangkok to travel 5
weeks through Thailand (Kanchanaburi, Ayuthaya, Ko Samui),
Cambodia
(Phnom Penh, Angkor Wat) and Vietnam
(Ho Chi Minh City or
Saigon , Dalat, Mekong Delta).
